Edge Information Management, Inc. has been approved for membership in the “ConcernedCRAs” group. Over sixty leading pre-employment background screening firms have joined together to express their support for increasing the accuracy of criminal background checks used for employment screening.

Melbourne, FL,–Edge Information Management, Inc. (Edge), a prominent provider of employment screening services is proud to announce that they are now members of the “ConcernedCRAs.

By becoming a member of ConcernedCRA, Edge has pledged to not send any confidential or private information on their client’s applicants/employees off-shore for processing. These sensitive items can be social security numbers or financial account information. It also means that they will be meticulous when it comes to using and reporting information from criminal databases by upholding the following standards:

1. Criminal records databases compiled by non-government entities will only be used as indicators of possible records. Prior to making any report about a potential or current employee to an employer about a criminal record from a database, the CRA will verify the information directly with the reporting jurisdiction. This ensures that employers make decisions based on accurate and up-to-date information.

2. When using these databases it is important that current or prospective employer clients are provided information about the limited nature of criminal records databases and the importance of researching each applicant’s criminal history in the jurisdictions in which the applicant currently or previously has lived or worked.

“Here at Edge, we provide a high level of consideration and processes to handle, protect, and provide the most accurate information obtained on all applicants.” Commented Norm Gagnon, Compliance Director of Edge Information Management, Inc. “Certifying to the ConcernedCRA standards is a way to present to our clients, potential clients, and all applicants our commitment of utilizing sensitive information practices and providing information that has been accurately adjudicated.”

About ConcernedCRAs

ConcernedCRAs is a group of like-minded CRA’s (Consumer Reporting Agencies) who are concerned about the future of the employment background screening industry. They believe that certain data practices employed by some CRA’s place this industries profession at risk. Some employment background screening firms send the sensitive personal information (i.e. social security numbers and financial account information) off-shore to be processed. ConcernedCRAs believe that sending such information off-shore places both applicants and employers at risk and should be avoided whenever possible. Alternatively, when personal information is sent to other countries, applicants and employers should be made aware of this practice. For more information, please visitwww.concernedcras.com
